Tallies (Scorers)

The Tallies element contains all tallies to be recorded in the simulation. Sometimes a tally may also be referred to as a scorer.

Mesh Tallies

A mesh tally will create a grid, recording the specified tally in each cell of the grid. This grid will be displayed in the Setup 3D View Window. Some tallies will record in the mesh, while others are applied to the surface of the grid cell.

A maximum of 15 mesh tallies are allowed in a single simulation.

Note that the simulation will run significanly slower if the mesh tally is in the same space as a physical volume.

The grid is specified by selecting the

  • xMin Minimum coordinate in the x direction.
  • xMax Maximum coordinate in the x direction.
  • yMin Minimum coordinate in the y direction.
  • yMax Maximum coordinate in the y direction.
  • zMin Minimum coordinate in the z direction.
  • zMax Maximum coordinate in the z direction.
  • xCells Number of cells in the grid along the x axis.
  • yCells Number of cells in the grid along the y axis.
  • zCells Number of cells in the grid along the z axis.

Note that a passage cell flux is only applied to tracks that pass all the way through the cell.
